Folks, this Sunday, I'm spreading the word about a collective meditation for peace. It is completely non-denominational, so whatever your religion/belief system (present or not), you're more than welcome to join in. Not sure about the time as yet, but probably around 7pm or so - maybe slightly earlier - 6pm possibly (GMT). The rough duration I guess will be about an hour, but there is no need for you to be present for that long. If you want to "drop in" for 1 minute, 5 minutes or the whole hour, anything that you can spare will be great. How you go about this is entirely your choice. Perhaps you will just sit quietly for 5 and repeat a chosen phrase - "It is my wish and intention that there should be peace" for example. As a Shaman in training, I'll be in a trance for a good chunk of it. Basically, whatever for however long - that is up to you. I can hear the objects and semi-derision already. Yeah, it may not seem like the most active way of doing things. Yeah, if you're sitting on your own, how can this change anything? All that I ask is that you are open minded about this. Go into it with a genuine desire for the killing to stop, the wars to cease etc. let's see the results of this for themselves. Thanks for reading, and I hope that you can spare even just a few minutes to help. Leon

Hi. Well done on doing something about it, I mean we can't all be on the streets all the time making our selves heard but that's no reason why we can't spread our opinions and show that we care. I don't have a religion myself (through choice, I'm a socialist so I don't practice any religion, that said, I don't dislike anyone for their beliefs and won't discriminate for them.) but I think if the world leaders were to stop and concentrate on what's happening in the world just now, even for an hour, they'd be less happy to start wars left right and centre.

"It may not be the most active way of doing things" as you say but getting any sort of thought going is always good.
I've read it and intend to add my 40W of brain power but as rev notes thinking is the first stop on the road to doing.

I don't have a religion myself (through choice, I'm a socialist so I don't practice any religion, oh another socialist!!! hello!!! I think I'm technically a Marxist.... I think... My practice of Shamanism isn't a theistic one per se. I don't believe in one overall creator, but rather see everything as alive with certain over-souls etc... Its a way of life thing... That's one of the beautys about what I@m trying to do with this meditation. Whether you want to pray to your g(G)od, enter Shamanic trance or just sit and think about peace for 5 mins, its all there for you and you can choose whatever route you like, for however long

Well technically I'm closer to Trotskyist, I believe in permanant revolution, but to avoid any arguments over individual aspects of ideaology I'll say I'm socialist. As I say, the concentrating on peace thing seems the way to go, since I don't really believe in any god.

Hey, everyone join in last night? I wasn't on for the whole hour, but I managed to get the house to myself, so I must have spent a good 15 minutes or something, I took the clock down and turned everything off though in case it distracted me so I don't know the exact time (my little broadband box thing hates me for it though, you're not meant to unplug that! ;D ;D) so I just spent the time thinking hard. Strange really, after I done it, I was in that kind of mood all night.
