Hi chaps,
Decided to sell my Mk1 Astra, mainly due to upsetting neighbours by parking too many snotters outside.
Its covered 57,600 miles. I bought it last year to blast about in and do a few shows and it hasn't missed a beat in that time. Its a bit tatty around the edges but drives like a dream. The engine is as smooth as you like and it handles superbly. Its MoT'd until the end of June, but the tax runs out at the end of this month.
Prior to me buying the car it was owned by the same family from new down in Somerset. They owned a Vauxhall dealership and bought it new along with a Cavalier. It was his wife's car before passing to his wife's mother, who gave up driving aged 90, then went to his daughter to learn to drive before being laid up for 4 years.
He replaced the inner wings at some point and they still look good, he also replaced the clutch just before I picked it up.
Within two days of owning it a lorry fender flew off an oncoming truck and smashed in the front valance - I got that repaired at a cost of £250, but the numberplate is still smashed. It was the original dealer plate with squared edges, so I preferred to keep it on rather than replace it.
Both the temp gauge and fuel gauge don't work - temp gauge does nothing, fuel gauge wakes up on a full tank then goes to sleep after 50 miles. The fan is working and it hasn't ever overheated despite being in plenty of traffic jams.
For those who know these cars, its very rare being a booted saloon rather than hatchback - I've not seen another. It was built in Bochum rather than Ellesmere Port, and there's a suggestion the build quality was better as a result.
I'm looking for £500, but feel free to make rude offers - can only say no.
