I have a bidder on the Octavia. He has been an ebay member since April last year, but has zero feedback (granted was a member for ages before I bought and sold). He has only bid in that time on two items (both cars and both current auctions). His/Her profile says they are located in France, but I know that can be out of date.
I have sent them a message to confirm they know it is a UK spec car in England, for local pickup only.
I know I sold the Convertible to a german who paid by PayPal, but he had a good feedback history of buying and selling high end audio gear through the bay and was a little more trustworthy sounding.

I'd cancel it pronto. Just sounds fishy. Then send bidder a message telling him why you've cancelled, and to provide a UK landline number so you can call them to verify.
I'd say it's very unlikely they've moved from france to england, AND want to dust off an old ebay account to buy two cars simultaniously.

I've actually removed a bid from someone with 1 feedback today on my auction. I do state that contact must be made before less-than-5 types bid or I WILL cancel the bids. Have had too many scammers trying to win my cars before.

I never had the "5 bids..." stuff on, but I do say, contact in 24 hours, payment and collection in 7 days.
I'm hoping, just one more bid from someone else. Then if they turn out to be clowns, I'll just second chance it to the other bidders.
Is weird that in a year they don't have any bid history.
I can understand that they are more tight fisted than even me, and don't win anything, but at least I've bid or watched in the past. I might contact ebay about it.

I've had an account on ebay for a year and a bit now, and never bought/sold anything. I use it for watching items, and then let my dad bid on them for me. Maybe a similar situation? I say, give him a while on the message, if he doesn't reply then delete the bid. Adam

I think he's dodgy. Ebay France is even more blighted with knob grapplers than the UK equivalent; I say tell him to give you a proper landline number within 24 hours, or you will cancel his bid and block him.

Just set in your auction T&C's that sellers must have a paypal account if under 5 +ve, and must have a credit card on file with eGay.
2 minute job, and rules out having to have stupid 'personal' terms and conditions like 'no bidders with less than 10' or 'I will start getting necky within 12 hours contrary to eBay NPB conditions', and having to weed out retards. The tools are there, use them!

I've contacted Ebay, they say "contact them, wait for a response, if you don't get one cancel the bid", which is fair enough. I'm going to give them until this evening, which still leaves 2 1/2 days left (finishes thursday lunch time). I've asked them if they are aware that the car is in the UK and local pickup only, and is RHD UK spec, as their profile lists them as being in France. If they haven't responded by then, I cancel.

OK, bid cancelled. He/she didn't get back to me. I've told them to send me a landline number before they try to bid again.
I need it to go real soon. There is a LPG rangie with 11 months MOT, leather, electrics and everything working, in Manc for £450 that I'm going to ring about. Even if it is a structural shed, with 11 months MOT, as long as it is mechanically good, "It'll Do nicely". For that price I wouldn't even be too fussed for the colour.
