They'd hacked this to bits already when they fitted an ejector seat to it! (hence the rectangular outline in the roof!)
It did look a bit crusty when I saw it in that earlier episode but not unservicable, just needing TLC

They also trashed a perfectly good '68 Plymouth Fury on one episode trying to prove if a prop coming off would flip a car over.

The thing is, they must deliberately hunt these cars out. They culd far easier use soething like an early 90s Chevrolet Corsica or 80s Celbrity or something that nobody in their right mind would miss but instead they have to reduce the number of rot free classics.... assmonkeys.

Maybe these cars have been seized under something like the "clunker law" they have in California, and its either use them on the show or they get shredded anyway. Apparently a lot of retro metal was getting hoovered up as a result of this - people taking old Mustangs etc that theyve been meaning to fix up and weighing them in for "pollution credits" or something. And of course if its from California its gonna be rot free stuff most of the time.
