i bumped into a bloke ive not seen in about 10 years-we used to be boy racers back then (nothing changes) but we got talking and we both remember a 1985 nissan prairie slammed on 5 spokes with a 220bhp rs turbo donkey between the wings absolutely demolishing the pair of us round coventry ring road-i had a tweaked 309GTi and my mate had a cavalier running a 16v XE lump and 45mm throttle bodies....
just wondered if anyone else knows of an odd modding choice...

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Rallying's given birth to some oddities over the years....but the god of odd mods HAS to be Andy Burton. ;D This is a video of his old car....Ferrari V8-motored Alfa And this is the current beast, a Peugeot 306 with Cosworth V6 power.....unfortunately he stuffed it into a tree on last week's very snowy Wyedean rally, but I'm sure it will be back out soon.

didnt lancia do a ferrari powered thema? Yeah, the 8.32, like the proverbial poor quality wobbly children's play pony doo-doos.

Yea but the 'Ferrari' engine is really toned down in the Lancia - use some similar castings but had a standard split-plane crank and made 215BHP or 205BHP depending on if you had a Mark 1/2 engine

The Austin Princess R had a Rolls royce motor in it. Imagine - the ordinary styling of an Austin combined with the thirst of a Roller. ;D

Imagine - the ordinary styling of an Austin combined with the thirst of a Roller. ;D ....and look at what we almost had......no, it's not a kit car, Austin Healey really DID develop a version with the 4-litre Princess R engine in it ;D Get the full story here www.ewilkins.com/wilko/ah4000.htm

Isn't that 4-litre RR lump a load of old turds though?
Stone-age design and about 110bhp?

According to the article, RR were developing a twin-cam head for it that would have pumped it up to around the 260-300bhp mark.
No wonder BL killed it off, that would have opened a gigantic can of whoop-ass over the E-type ;D

If that's the case why did they give up and crack on with the 6270 waft-o-matic that theyhad in Shadow's etc?

If that's the case why did they give up and crack on with the 6270 waft-o-matic that theyhad in Shadow's etc? The lucrative US market I should think, where 'there ain't no substitute for cubic inches', and anything less than a V8 is considered ghey and panty-waisted ;D
