Is there such a thing as a commonplace back axle of similar width to the Mk1/2 Escort back axle but with a really low ratio to suit a diesel engine? I think the Escort axle is 52" off the top of my head. By really low I mean 3.1:1 - 3.2:1 or thereabouts. Ideally Ford pcd, shame Ford English axle didn't go beyond 3.54:1
Thanks

Thanks Ian, where's the best place to find one, are parts still available and how do you tell if it's knackered?
These came off Mk1 Capris I know but did they also get used for anything else, Granadas, Mustangs? Widens my search range.
Cheers

No, specifically mk1 3ltr, Good Narrow aslas axles do turn up, but the ford boys love them as they are so much stronger than the english, and top quality ones are very expensive, fostek.co.uk/about.htmlI suppose the other option is fit taller wheels/tires,
