Soooo, my mini has a lot of very big holes in it and is becoming unsuitable for road use! I've already got a new shell to one side in my garage but I need something to get me to work and back... It's a 1995 Metro GTa, as with mose of the cars I've had recently it's a bit of a mix match. Its one of the very last "Metro"'s as the Rover 100 was launched later in 1995. It's also a 1.1 GTa which is not as common as the 1.4, I havn't seen another one on-line and even the brochures are mostly 1.4 based! I don't really have any history for it other than MOTs, so I've already bought a new timing belt and water pump to go on next weekend. It has however only got 55,000 miles on the clock dispite having 10 owners. The mileage is backed up by the immaculate interior (which I'm yet to photo) and the appearance of very little rust! Plans are to do nothing! As wierd as it sounds I actually feel like I'm driving a bit of history around. When was the last time you saw one? I'll make some modifications as they occur but it'll be strictly OEM+, I'd like to extend its life as long as possible. The freshly pumped suspension makes my drive to work much more bearable, and I've already been fully exploiting my first ever Hatchback! So... yeah...

Ahh, memories. That is literally the double of the car in which I learned to drive. While BSM and whoever trundled around in Corsas and the like I loved my instructor's choice of a 1.1 GTa, complete with red seatbelts.
It inspired me to buy a GTi version around 3 years later. Sad but true.

Lot of love for the GTa, was my first car at only 17 and a year old, was either the GTa or the Nova SR but I've always been a sucker for being different. I wont riddle your page with my pics just links The gold wheels look good on the green! The wheels are the only bit of this which hasn't been done. I'll only be able to tackle them one at a time though.

I had a good look at your motor yesterday along with the 'early' Gta and the Sport (oh, and the 6R4, rear wheel drive turbonutter etc, etc...). When you do the belt and pump, do the tensioner as well; you might as well as your in there and you will then know, as your 1.1 spins up to jet engine speeds, it ain't gonna explode! For such a 'small' engine, they are cracking units (I use a 1.1 Kensington ruthlessly.... ) Nice car. Stick with OEM+.

Nice to see one of these. My grandad had a BRG 1.4 GTA 5-door several years ago, and I always liked it. Didn't even realise they did a 1.1 version.

Why drain when the trumpets can be chopped? . Great to see it being used as a daily. It is also quite interesting to see that there are still a few 1.1 GTas around .

Sweet car, I had a 1.4 Gta a few years ago. Great car which sadly rusted away before my eyes. I still think it is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever had/driven and I've had a lot of cars. Always wanted one with a VVC lump in, some of the Talon converted cars are proper weapons
