just bought a catering van, one of the trailer jobbies, dirt cheap and thinking of uses for it now i've started stripping it.
not really suitable to convert as a transporter cos its only a single axle so i thought about building a teardrop caravan.
any hints/tips/piccies/links ?

that American site is v.interesting ...I tend to get lost in there ! I built a teardrop to go behind my sled .don't forget that their ideas are based around better weather than ours ,so you will have to build accordingly !And try to work on the 8ftx4ft principle ,it saves loads of ally sheet!! Ask away if you need more info ,I'll try to help, and give you a better insight

i've got a T25 camper van so this'll just be for very occasional use really, my head's spinning from some of their designs, its incredible the amount of stuff they get into the lil things. my existing chassis is approx 8x4 measured inside the rims so looks to be ideal, well worth a tenner

May poss be a bit stiff on the suspension when built ,but on the other hand its surprising how the weight of the stuff adds up as you build it . To give you an idea,I had 10x4 box ,built using 1x1 steel frame with 6mm ply skinned in 1mm aly . Cooker sink ,camping stuff ,heavy totrod etc ....all went well on a min rear subframe without the rear shocks . Towed like a dream !Make sure the towbar is long enuf to prevent Whip .

Best pic Ive got of mine ...was still under construction at the time (mudguards) Had cooker etc mounted in the front door, which hinged on the left .Carpeted ,lights etc . Built it like this to accomodate a large tot rod rolling in there .
