I traveled to Leeds to buy this car in late december last year, I was running a 1991 Mini Cooper at the time but that was getting a bit worse for wear and I wanted something with a bit more power. The reason I am selling this now is because I really fancy a mk2 Golf and always have done but unfortunately can't afford to have 3 cars as i'm only 20!
A friend of mine checked not too long back and said there was only 256 of these registered in the UK. Not so sure how true that actually is but I think it's very believable, a rare car to see these days definitely!
It's a lovely car all round, very clean besides a couple of parking dings here and there and a couple of paint touch ups from the previous owner which aren't very noticeable at all. The paintwork, glass and interior are all original. She polishes up very well.
I have lowered the car on AP 35mm lowering springs all round, it sits much nicer than standard now in my own opinion. I do have the original coils though if you'd want to return it to standard height.
I also bought a new k&n air filter.
The car has plenty of history to go with it and has been looked after by all owners. It has only travelled 11000 or so miles in the past 13 years, I have a mot test certificate from 1999 stating the recorded milage was 55269, another from 1996 with the recorded milage of 54218. This car has certainly been garaged nearly the entirety of its life.
She doesn't lose water or oil and has no leaks what so ever.
Everything inside works perfect.
All cars obviously have their bad points:
The rear jacking point on the drivers side sill was covered in surface rust from it getting knocked whilst being jacked up, but was very solid, I treated it with rust prevention, used rust prevention primer and painted it black. It hasn't gotten any worse since I did this and isn't really noticeable. I do have a picture to show.
There are a couple parking dings here and there but nothing too noticeable at all. The passenger corner of the bonnet has had a slight ding and is slightly bent in, easily fixable though I reckon.
It has the original cassette player + speakers that may need wiring or are broken, unsure to be honest, they seem like they just need wiring up as one works briefly.
