I thought I knew most makes and models from the 1950's onwards, but I have made a couple of surprise discoveries recently. The first was that Vauxhall made a Velox ute! I've only ever seen sedans before but this looks very well executed, far nicer than some of the other relatively low production utes at the time such as the Standard Vanguards Then a few days later I discovered that Austin did an A55 ute which is nearly as nice! Were these Australia-only specials or were they a worldwide item? I know that Morris did Minor and Oxford utes and vans, were there any other UK sedan based utes of the period I have missed?

Have a Standard 10, seeing as they're flavour of the month in certain quarters

The rear wheel arch flares (which I always thought look like 'oops, we made the axle too wide, what do we do now?' on the 10 sedans) actually quite suit the little ute!

Pretty much every type of British car was built as a ute in Australia! Austin, Morris, you name it. I think there were even Wolseley utes? Landcrab ute! Austin 1800. Supposedly a Commer: Standard Vanguard of course: Another Standard Vanguard: And then there's the English Fords, such as the Prefect: I may have strayed a bit either side of the 1950s, but you get the idea. If you go out looking for obscure utes, you will keep finding more!

Were any of these utes Australia only? I know that the Austin 1800 Landcrab ute was definitely Australian-only. Not sure about the rest.

The Zephyrs were Australian Market only models (but quite a few have made it back to the UK)

I've always been partial to the Armstrong-Siddeley Station Coupe Utility The Standard 10s look really tough! And of course the more familiar Commer Cob-based utes are pretty cool

Ah yes, I'd forgotten the Armstrong Siddleys and the Commer Cobs, I should the Cob to my potential wish list, I am quite partial to the Hillman Husky vans as well.

If I was looking to buy any of these things, I'd just look at anything in the vague category of British utes and then buy on condition. They're too rare to go looking around for a particular make and model.

The roofline/back window of the UK built A55/A60 pick ups is quite different to the Aussie built ute in the OP. In the same way the Devon Ute is different from a Devon Pick up

The proper name of a ute is a Coupe Utility, which is why the rear rooflines tend to have a bit more style to them than a normal pick-up.
