OK.. what does everyone think to this?? Considering this as a possible project when I comes to the missu passing her driving test and taking the family car leaving me to get myself a toy! (not this particular LR, but a Series model none the less!) Still working out how this may be possible to do, but the photoshop is all the inspiration I need! also, the rattier the better I feel!

I don't have a pic of it, but that slammed '48 SWB Landy should be the first point of reference I reckon! Not so sure that it'd work on a 109" chassis though, looks-wise.

WARNING! EXTREME DIFFICULTY RATING!!
Have a look at how a LR is put together, ie. with the axles slung under the chassis. You will essentially have to go right back and fabricate a new chassis in these areas to lift the wheels into the body. However if you keep thestock axles etc, that's going to burger up your engine position.... do I need go on?

Oh in addition.... I suppose if you went to a coils set up (as opposed to leafs) you might be able to crank it down 'a bit', or even hi-jack the air system from an LSE RR... but that's still not going to make it 'very' low.

Great if you want to spend every weekend replacing busted propshafts, they just won't take working at that angle, exactly the same as if you jacked it 4"......the only way to do it would be to channel the body over the chassis, but then you'd end up having to fabricate a whole new interior/steering/pedals.....and you'd smash your skull on the roof every time you went over an expansion joint!!!
Would look ace, but there's a LOT of work.

Buy a Landrover and a Scimiter and then swap bodies. You get to keep a cool low Landie and you get to sell a b*tching 4x4 Reliant. You know it makes sense. ;D

You cannot slam standard Series as the front diff would be in sump, prop joints not a problem unless you lift the suspension more than a couple of inches without rotating the nose of the diff, dropping it bring the axle and gearbox back in line but the would foul the crossmenbers aft of the gearbox. The one in Tom's post is a bitsa, Series 1 front panel, doors, seats and rear tub, Series 2 wings, bonnet, windcreen and front apron and scrach built bulkhead, the wheels are definately not Land Rover and I willing to bet the chassis frame isn't either. The only way lower a standard series alot is to fix the axles direct to the chassis, ride quality will be slightly worse.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The hot rod one is actually a Rover underneath isn't it? A P6 or summat IIRC.

I -think- the rodded S1 is actually built on a Rover P3 ('48?) chassis.

I -think- the rodded S1 is actually built on a Rover P3 ('48?) chassis. Uhuh, Clive who owns it signed up on here but has never posted... For those that don't know it's the aforementioned chassis or summat very like that with matching front suspension, 3.9 V8 on LPG, narrowed Disco rear axle and a whole lot of fabrication... Any excuse for a pic

Ahh yes, I remember. That makes sense because then it would be pre-49.
I knew it was P-summat, I just bashed in the wrong number. ;D

take note: I think this is one of the truest HOT RODS about atm... I have heard this landyrod slated in many a forum (not mentioning them but it is NOT this one..) but it is more a rod than some plastic bodied "hotrod style" last year built jobbies... (IMO) I'm glad I said that.... in the open... now I can sleep... ;D si

must admit, not having a landy to hand right nw i cant go out and take measurements, but in theory it might be possible.
That S1 i have seena few times and chatted with the owner. Think he said it was P4 based. Must admit, that it is myinspiration for the project.
The Front diff/Engine sump issue isnt too bad as i might just lose 4WD altogether and fit IFS so that it wouldent be a problem... nex problem would be utilising another IFS setup to fit to it though! lol
Am going to see if i can get ahold of Series to do some measuring up! lol
