'Scuse me if I'm being a bit thick here... but do you mean the caliper piston is leaking? If so, I'd just whizz one off a car down the scrappy and bosh it on. I've rebuilt calipers before and it's a bit of an ar$e-on. Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick...
*Edit* I was indeed being thick. I get it now...

Well, you shouldn't really cut corners with brakes.
If you can get a rubber seal kit you could try stripping your existing ones and putting new seals in. That will only work if the bore is nice and clean though - no scores etc. You might be able to do this without taking the cylinder off the car but that depends on how accessable it is and whether there are bits in the way.
Best solution is new cylinder though I'm afraid. What price for being able to stop at that next zebra crossing?

Get a new cylinder, I've been in three brake failures now and neither was very funny. Luckily two were stationary and the other we could coast to halt on clear road.

What car are you doing? If it's just a wheel cylinder they are often very reasonably priced.

yeh i decided about 10mins after posting this that most of my problems stem from being a bit of a traveller and trying to scrimp and save and find shortcuts. so i went and bought 2 new slave cylinder £15.22 BANK BREAKING:O ... for the record i'm finally doing that sodding mk3 fiesta thats been stuck on my drive for a month now, although when taking the hub off, i pretty much managed to dissassemble every bit of the rear brake setup and cant for the life of me workout how it goes back together. haha. funtimes. lack of retro content and boring technical questions = a fiesta i like

:)Maybe someone with a Mk3 Fiesta could post a pic of their brake shoe set up, either from the car itself or from a Haynes manual?
It's VERY important to get it right!

brakes important, nahhhh.. mind you it is for an mot so i probably should have them working right.
ive found a manual of an escort manual of the same era, that appears to have a very similar brake setup if not the same, got an mot for friday, so i'll have a bit more of a fiddle and if it doesnt come together then i'll nip down halfrods with the camera phone and find the haynes manual i opened earlier haha:P
