So, I had a bloody good day today. I was at the Vauxhall Heritage Centre in Luton. I drove these cars (like a total hooligan): Droop-snoot FirenzaDSC_1787 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1879 by dbizzle_, on Flickr mkI Astra GTEDSC_1900 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1899 by dbizzle_, on Flickr mkII Astra GTE 16vDSC_1768 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1772 by dbizzle_, on Flickr mkVI Astra VXRDSC_1860 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1858 by dbizzle_, on Flickr VXR220DSC_1841 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1844 by dbizzle_, on Flickr Calibra V6DSC_1802 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1798 by dbizzle_, on Flickr I'll be posting reviews of all of these shortly on SuckSqueezeBangBlow. ...and here's a glimpse into what's hidden in that secret Luton warehouse. The Droop Snoot is the one for me. I bought one of those just before xmas (or rather I thought I had) Went to view the car on a Saturday, agreed a price, subject to the guy putting a test on it for me, over the next week. Called him on the Thursday to see if he'd had chance to get the MOT done, prick says, yeh I did on Tuesday, but BTW I've sold it someone else!

That looks like an excellent way to spend a few hours. Some really sweet cars there. Lotus Carlton one of my particular favorites as well as the Astra GTE/GSIs.
Whats the story with the engine with Swindon stamped onto it?

VX220 does it for me outta them. love to have a spin in one of them. This was no ordinary VX220, but the super-rare VX R220 - they only built 60 of 'em. 0-62mph in 4.2s! This one was build no. 00: DSC_1837 by dbizzle_, on Flickr Check out the awesome interior too! DSC_1838 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1839 by dbizzle_, on Flickr

so much oofff there ! cool pictures, thanks for sharing swindon race engines built the group A/touring/super touring engines for BTCC. the one at luton is later reverse head version though (exhaust moved to rear of engine bay so that exhaust manifold had better routing) slide throttles, knocking on for 290bhp and 9k revs

you may recognise the white gte from 5th gear, it was on a show celebrating the launch of mk2 focus RS.
they took a privately owned ph2 escort RS turbo and found it to be quicker than this standard heritage centre GTE16v by a small margin, which might appear slightly engineered on a show talking about how the RS brand has moved on in 20 years...when on paper it the GTE should have been remarkably quicker
then whilst the owner of said RS turbo revelled in his 15 minutes of fame on RSownersclub an old thread was dug up showing how it to be lowered, air filter, SS exhaust, chipped, boost modifications
bitter, naaa lol

I visited there about 11 years ago, I remember calling them from over here and they invited me to visit. When I got there you couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of people. I wasn't aware that t's not generally open to the public, but they really broke out the welcome mat for me, they were really enthusiastic to see that I was driving around Florida in a PA at the time.
