Mate of mine had a bit of a knock in his Mk3 Polo a couple of weeks ago but he's already sorted himself out with a new car.... a mk4 polo (or something like that!) Damage: Needs a new front nearside wing + door. probably a new bumper and near side headlight light as well. As far as I'm aware he's just gonna scrap it or something like that, so I may see if I can get it off him for peanuts..... How hard is it to get a bit of poke out of them? Thing is, I know how he drives, and the thing WILL be thrashed! But I would love something that looks like this... Basically it has to be cheap otherwise I cant afford it and there's no point in me having the car! So much dya reckon to get it looking something like the above (from totally stock)? Paint... pop down to halfords for a few tins of matt black.. Springs... smoked lenses...cheap set of wheels..? It does of course also depend on how much to get the repairs done as well. So what do you reckon? Should I? Oh, and did I mention I only have 250 quid to live off till April...........!!

500 quid buy it now, cant see him letting it go for less than 400.
at least u get some "ministry of soumd" speakers, wonder if they're similar to ministry of sound stuff
cant find any of the parts that ur mate's polo needs on ebay so not sure how much they would be.

So what do you reckon? Should I? Oh, and did I mention I only have 250 quid to live off till April...........!! no too difficult but a little pricey ,a mate of mine had one built that was almost in g40 territory at about 110 bhp (g40 is 115).he had it bored out to iirc about 1310 or 1320 cc,a ported head and hi-lift cam,4 branch manifold and jetex? exhaust system and he swapped the carb for a peirburg off a ford sierra i think,so it all looked stock and went like the wind.he has some contacts in the racing world so he had a mate build it up ,blueprinted and such ,with all new bits etc.i'd never been in a polo mk2 that has ever got to 100mph so quick other than a g40.we grafted on golf gti discs all round and fitted a coilover kit so it went round corners and stopped as well as it went.but it was a real sleeper ,just looked like a mk2 polo coupe s in good nick, sitting a bit lower than usual.

Hmmmm, in that case although it's not too difficult to make them travel a bit faster I would leave it for a while.
Would rather get the imp up and going again than spend more than as little as possible on a polo.....
Anyone able to answer trg about the wings...? Bolt on or not?

there's a chap on clubpolo that does a chip for most engine codes for £30.... only about 5hp gain but it's only thirty quid lightening is the way to go, they're a pretty good engine but since the car is already light, a few KGs here and there will make a lot of difference in relation to the starting weight. Junk the back seat and spare wheel, lose the cat, and my toolbox shows there's loads you can forget to put back in a mk3 and it'll still drive alright exhausts work well on G40 but not sure about the regular spec.... can't really swap too many bits from the GT/G40 as they're multipoint injection and the rest are spi. smoked lenses are ten a penny as they were original equipment on later cars. clear indicators are £30 from auto-art dealers. grille spoilers are available but look pap. laguna splitter fits on when chopped, and in my opinion actually looks quite good, that plus lowering makes the front look really low. don't be tempted to fit a boot spoiler if you've not got one, as spoilered models need a different washer arm with the water jet in. from a GT you can rob the fairly nice interior, or a Corrado/Golf one fits OK. Also the rev counter clocks go straight in (confusingly with a pair of radio removal prongs!) but remember to 'disable' the oil pressure buzzer or it'll go off every time you go over 2000rpm

got everything needed but the door, left over from the GT i broke recently, just want to get stuff cleared now so don't want much.
wing takes about 10 mins to removed, aye just bolt on, the ones inside the wing are a fiddle but easy job to do.
couple of hours tops to swap that lot.

mate of mine just sold his 1.3 with t+t for £200, not the tidiest but had a very good engine, about right price IMHO.
i bought my GT for £75 as a MOT failure, only needed a door but i broke it to convert my mk2 polo coupe S, hopefully done soon.
