In the next year or so I wanna give my mk1 golf gti's little bits of rust sorted, and a full respray, then a set of coilovers, then leave her be-a wee bit lower, but as she left the factory... and by the time I'm 30 I WILL have one of these mo fos:  with these exhausts, not the straight out the back ones:  pure 4 wheeled porn!  so I got about 7 and a bit years.... she will be mine, oh yes she will! |

Well things to do are:- Drive across america (common one I would have thought) Many laps of the Nurburgring Drive the Stelvio pass Do a bit of clubman stage rallying (as a driver this time not just navigating) Those are in the main fairly easy to achieve, just time/money and a suitable vehicle being the limiting factor. Cars to own 1973 911 RS 2.7 (I am sure I will own a 911 at some point but I really want one of these)  1969 Mustang Mach 1 ( I wont even consider a boss 302/429 unless I get a good lottery win ;D)  BMW CSL  and loads of cheap Ebay tat  other than that a barn to store it all in (and plans are already a foot for this  ) |

Be careful pinning goals on being 30! ;D  I'll be driving a ratty standard MR2 by the time i get there!   not really the master plan! Although over the next few years i have a fair few mega goals, one of which is bagging an 80's Trans am before they get Hoff taxed or new muscle taxed. Then give everything i own a reanimation make over plus not a goal but new to teh wants list, some plush 80's Cruiser  |

Well my goal for being 40 is a ferrari F40, I might be aiming a bit high, but then again I got my first goal of a Mk1 golf gti at 21 ;D ;D ;D |

Go for it, best thing to do with a goal though, is have a plan and work at it. Here goes: By the time i'm 35! custom '85 MR2 and Sierra V8 hitting the roads and tracks, plus reliable workhorse, and T/A project in the garage... |

I read a book back in summer called The Barefoot investor.
It says in that book you should identify your life goals, i.e your dreams that have always been with you. You should then work out how much they would cost you and when you can realistically do them, then working backwards you know how much you need to save per month to get there.

i also wanna drive across america in something fairly knackered

id also like something something just to pootle about in, witha few choice but cheap mods

Well I could give you the easy answer that I give SWMBO when I want yet another car ..."its the last one I'll do honest" lol But in reality there is a goal I have of owning a Rodded A40 Devon or Pop. In 12 yrs I retire ..no more cars, cos we're going travelling ...!yahoo!

I'm being realistic about 60's - 70's muscle cars, unless i earn a good crust, find bargain house, or win some money, i'm ruling it out for now, however i wouldnt mind yogging some money on this from the ebay thread right now if i could!  |

I wish that in the past ten years or so I'd just held onto to my money. But sadly it's too tempting to spend it on short term stuff you think you want but only takes you away from your ultimate goals. |

You are spot on MWF easy to chase daft ideas and not dreams, i know! LOL I really want cars that are fun to drive now while i can, and i believe i have that, but i'm seriously falling for one of those '69 wildcats now, needs building into the plan i think, ticks a lot of unpractical but cool car boxes for me. |
