On the way home tonight, some bloody idiot kid threw a brick at my windscreen. Just driving along, minding my own business when BANG! Stood on the brakes, thank god no-one behind me, to see a young lad of about 11 legging it up a side street, too far to catch or see. Coppers will "call to take a statement" tomorrow, I'll get a crime no and then nothing, I bet. At least I was driving the recovery, and not a car with a toughened screen like the cortina, but I still think 5 mph faster or a bit bigger brick would have come through and hit me. Scary thought, a faceful of glass and stone doing nearly 40mph towards you....... There have been deaths and serious injury that way! Its nearly an hour ago and I'm still shaking, I bet the kid just thought it would be a laugh, if he thought at all! A mate of mine had the screen smashed on a 65 sumbeam rapier near where this happened too (anyone got a minx screen??) and the phonebox and bus shelters get smashed every time they bother putting glass in them, but this is a first as far as I know for bricking a moving vehicle! Lots of snowballs last week tho, maybe he improvized cos the snow had gone. Anyhow, rant over, I feel a bit better now. I hope I've got glass cover, I'll have to check

You're alright, that's the main thing....there's nothing you can do, just thank Christ you weren't going 5mph quicker. The more you think about how you'd like to tear the little fooker a new ar5e the more you will wind yourself up.....and as usual our fine Cnutstabulary are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Just GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! Now you've started me off!
Sometimes I hate what these poxy right-on to55ers have done to this country.

it was on the local news the other week [look north] about there being about 40 reported incidents like this along an A road near Durham. They were hiding on the bridge/shrubbery around the slip road.
I'm glad you're ok though - such a shame that we have to share this planet with people/kids like that though.

don't know until I check the commercial policy tomorrow. Even if I'm covered, there will be a oner excess tho, might just try and find a screen, it's on rubbers not bonded at least.

the dibble SHOULD be taking it serious, if not a team of local camera wielding sly detectives could keep tabs on likely kids in likely locations, finding out what they are upto and where they live. sounds like it common at the mo. Lot of effort? thats why the police have not caught em then... HTH (probs not)

without turning this thread into an old womens' coffee morning I have to say... I blame the parents... I do but I still blame the kids too I had the side window of my Polo shot out with a stone a few years back - however I knew exactly where he was running too and I doubled back parked the car up and got the little tosser...... He had - a bloody goood blah & - Wet his pants on the march back to his house Parents couldn't give a curse word unfortunately I had to wait a month or so before ensuring that they needed to spend a similar amount to repair something they owned - it might have been a bit more - whats the going rate for removing 1kg of sure from a petrol tank and fuel lines? ?

Little curse word. Where was that at? If you an get a window cheap enough I would just chuck it in yourself, like you say you can probably get one for less than your excess.
