Had a curse word of an oil leak in the carlton, Started off thinking it was the cam cover. So replaced that, then didnt realise there was new oil still appearing (thought it was all old)
Turns out it was the dizzy oil seal,
Now the side of the block, And front of the gearbox is covered , And id like to sort it....
Anyone know a decent way of cleaning it?

Spray some Jizer/gunk/TFR all over the place, then jet wash it, avoiding the electrics especially the dizzy, coil, alternator and crank sensor etc. It'll come up beautiful.

yeah as above i personally use gunk but don't get it in aerosol form , get it in the tin so you can put it in a bottle and use it (get your £ worth out of it then) before spraying it anywhere warm the engine up for about -15minutes ,turn it of ,then spray the gunk/TFR/Jizer on the block etc cover all electrics coil dizzy/alternator with a plastic bag . scrub the stubborn bits then get the hose or jet ash over it hope that helps ive done it like that for years and has not caused an issue and been left with clean grease oil free bays

TFR (diluted, as neat, it's too strong) in a spray bottle or one of those garden pump bottle jobbies. Make sure to cover up any delicate parts with carrier bag/latex glove etc, leave it a bit, then either hose it or jetwash it off. Alternatively, I bought 3 bottles of Tesco Daisy multiple-purpose cleaner (80p a bottle) and that really is excellent for the money. I did the engine bay on my Golf with it.
