I am looking to sell my Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twinspark and get a misery spec diseasel for my commute.
Well the Alfa Romeo 156 in question has been one of my all time favorite cars, on a par with the Mk1 Fiesta and Lancia Y10. Yep that good.
It looks a little scruffy externally, there is some scrapes on the bumpers and a scrape of about 3-4 inches towards the bottom of the passenger door, both these are pictured. The windscreen is also scuffed by past wiper blades and could so with a hammer taking to it, followed by a call to the insurance company to send round Gavin from Autoglass. It has never annoyed me that mush though so I really couldn't be arsed to do so.
Apart from the screen, I have done quite a lot of work and made sure everything is as good as it can be so mechanically it is very good. It has just had the cam belt, aux belt, all associated tensioners, variator and cam cover changed by well regarded Alfa Romeo specialist 'Autolusso' in Bournemouth. This happened less than 3000 miles ago with receipts to show the work. It's pretty frugal for what it is with economy consistently in the mid to high 30s.
It has also had new brake discs and pads front and rear. These are Brembo discs and Ferodo pads all round, so it stops very well.
Suspension wise, it has new upper arms, new drop links and a new track rod end in the past 1000 miles. It has also had all four rear transverse arms, complete with bushes changed at the same time and four wheel tracking done. This combined with both the front tyres being less than 1000 miles old Dunlop Fast Responses make it handle and ride very tidily.
The interior isn't leather, but is clean, incredibly comfy and almost everything works. The only things I can think of that don't work, is the cassette player needs recoding as the code has been lost, the air con needs re-gassing, and the light bulb behind the clock has gone so it doesn't illuminate. As you may well know, it is possible to fit quite a large amount of Lancia Y10 in it, so it is surprisingly practical, despite its non-folding rear bench. Such luxuries as the rev counter and the rear electric windows work. A rare treat in a 156. The airbag light is on, this was due to a faulty airbag ECU which has been replaced and the light just needs resetting.
It has about 110,000 miles on the clock, a fair amount of history, MOT until October and tax until the end of the month.
For all this luxury automobile I want but £950.
I shall now sit back and await the barrage of people wanting to buy it. Or not, considering how my previous attempts at selling cars have/are going.
