Hello guy's and gal's. I'm new here, and my first post so here goes.
I have just bought this herald, with the intentions of radically changing it from being a placid motor, to a gasser with attitude. First thing to do is wait for this cold weather to feck orf, because i don't have a garage or workshop, just my driveway, and i aint laying under the car in these freezing conditions.
I have loads of plans jotted down, and there will be loads of Q's for you all. I have read most of the threads on here, but my favourite has to be the one iceman did with his lowered herald, back a couple of years ago, bloomin good read that was.
All the best Gaz.

Hello Malcolm, Not sure about engine yet, i have two i could use, they are a 227ci and 318ci both from a couple of Dodge's i've had in the past, or i could go with a rover v8, but everyones done that. Whatever i use will depend on the strength of the new chassis i'm having built. The cars body will remain the standard Herald shape, although the boot floor will be cut out to take a couple of 15X15 slot mags. ATB Gaz

Hi and welcome, I had thoughts of a herald gasser with pick up conversion a few years ago.
Still think of a Landrover gasser now and then.
Are you planning on racing, run what you bring or just street

Pahhhh, looks like someones gonna beat me to it. I've had plans to build a Gasser style Herald for a while now. I'd got in mind to use something like Hilux Surf chassis with Lexarse LS400 V8. I think Gasser style would suit the Herald shape very well. Kinda like a miniture '56 Chevy. lol Looking forwards to seeing how you get on with this Welcome btw

a bit too high for my liking though buddy. Says the man who is building a gasser? I'd say the rear end is about right for your plans: ps. I'm not entirely sure you'll have enough space for 15x15 rims...^those^ were 10s!

As far as the wheels go, i have no boot floor, so once fitted the new floor can be built around whatever wheels i decide on, the rest of the boot will be filled with a custom made fuel cell and a nos kit, so i don't intend too use it for luggage. As soon as i fugureout how to put pic's on, i'll show the car as it is.

10.9 that's a good time, what was the terminal speed. I would be very happy with a time even close to that from my land rover
What rear axle are you going to run

Still is my car, but these days i don't really get to see much of it, my eldest boy has taken over the care of it, as he has the room to keep it garaged and i don't, It does get driven occasionally but no longer gets raced.

I don't think there has been a car built thats worthy of rodding or the drag strip since the 80's, when front wheel drive became the norm, i for one wont touch a car built after 1980. And as for these computer things i'm lost, cant fathom the damn things out, to much tech for me, give me good old mechanicals any day.
