Not sure where to post this. I am "desperately" looking for any old 1963 vintage "A" registration plate. I do have a bus with some on, but they will go when the bus sells. I am looking for this as a friend in America collects only 1963 plates from around the world, so this would be a neat surprise for him. Please PM me if you have one, I am happy to Paypal you the postage, or collect if I am in the area (Not Scotland etc ) Thanks Rian

A lot of 1963 plates in the UK aren't "A" suffix. That system was introduced in 1963, but far from all local licensing authorities implemented it then - particularly in Scotland. Many started on the "B" or "C". So there will be many 3 & 3 plates from 1963 for him too.
An awful lot of "A" suffixes were issued to number donors before they were issued with age related non transferable numbers, so not only will there be a lot of 1963s that aren't "A" suffix, there will be loads of "A" suffix plates that aren't from 1963.

Hi mate, I understand the change over etc, but Pete is in North Carolina, and for simplicity's sake, I would like to send him a 1963 "A" Reg plate. Sure it will be different to what he has. I myself have decided to start "specializing" in the American plates I collect, looking at Disabled, Veterans plates, and as you know, I also have a Purple Heart plate from my friend Steve, who was wounded twice in Vietnam.
