Hi, at the moe i have a rickman based on the mk2 escort fitted with 14" weller steel wheels, what i wish to know is will the alloys off a newer ford fit it ( eg escort, fiesta, as they are frount wheel drive, or would they hit the strut on the front? as you seem to get them cheap off ebay,or is any one local to portsmouth/ waterlooville that i could try one , john

James (jrevilug) on 'ere had some bk racing wheels on his when he got it but swapped them temporarily for my Citroen BX steels as the studs are not really long enough for modern alloy wheels. Older wheels with sleeve washers would be ok or you can change the studs, but Peugeot and citroen wheels have a nice ofset to help fill the arches it seems.

The FWD Ford wheels have a lot of offset so will be very tight, I have a set of spare FWD Ford alloys, I'll try them on my Ranger & let you know the result. If I was looking for cheap alloys, I would be looking @ Peugeot wheels as the offset is similar to Ford RWD. John

First chance today to try a Ford Escort FWD 14" alloy wheel, unfortunately the offset is too much, I only tried the front wheel & the tyre was touching the strut, the wheel would not even fit up tight on the hub by about 1/2". The wheel I was trying has an ET of 43, where if I remember correctly RWD wheels have an ET of about 15. I did try some MOMO 15" FWD wheels on my old Dutton Sierra, the fronts would just about clear, but the rears touched the body, so I sold them on. Hope this helps, John
