Hello, I have some steel wheels that are in need of some repair. One is very badly cracked. Would anybody know of somewhere good where I could get them repaired. I am also looking to get 2 banded so if they also did banding that would be great.
Cheers Iain

Cracked? Don't think I've ever seen a cracked steel wheel!
Where abouts are you?

I'm in Norwich, it has gone from and around the wheel stud hole.
Cheers

Tbh, I'd suggest that unless they're something special, and particularly that you're looking at getting them banded, you bin them and get some more

I've heard of steel wheels cracking in the centres and failing, but those were on 50's and 60's cars, usually when they were doing their final blast round the ovals during the 70's.
What is the wheel off by the way?
You're better off binning it as MrSpeedy says, it's not worth the risk.

sounds a bit very sketchy to me. the welded area would tend to concentrate the stresses leading to more cracking. possibly if you really cant replace them i would guess that a careful tigging will be preferable to trying to blast it with a mig. possibly whatever - keep a real close eye on the repaired wheel (and the others ) to avoid kitten/nun/death interface

welded up a crack in one of my banded steels after having a little off and putting a pretty big dent in either side. Its only steel, I don't get why so many people are scared of them!

I'm not scared (most steel wheels are very soft and malleable), just looking at the cost effectiveness of it all. Tho, bearing in mind they've cracked as standard, the extra leverage/loads induced with banded wheels (due to shifted centre of contact and relationship to wheel hub) may exagerate the issue
