Hello boys and girls I have a slightly mystifying problem.
After driving home from work today, I was pulling into my estate and I heard a loud clunk and noticed that the clutch pedal had suddenly become much easier to push down.
Any ideas why this might be and is it serious? I drive a 1993 MX5 1.6.
I have done a little bit of research and it seems that the master cylinder for the clutch could be to blame.
Thanks in advance

Some years ago I the diaphragm spring in the pressure plate break, it gave the same lighter pedal, does the clutch slip? As the spring's broke it's not got the same clamping force anymore.

You can usually tell if a cover spring has gone by sidestepping the clutch, it will usially slip slightly and give a nice smotth take off and no wheelspin? you really need to have tried the same treatment before the change to notice though
