Owing to my dad having recently suffered a stroke at the age of 74, he's asked me to sell his much cherished 1994 1.8LSi Cavalier.
He's owned it from 6 months and 16k miles old and it has been maintained absolutely religiously. In fact I think the only MOT it ever failed on was when the tester snapped the handbrake cable during the test!
It has what I would consider to be WAY more than a full service history, although it has been solely home maintained after the maanufacturers warranty expired. EVERYTHING that has been done to the car has been noted down with the exact mileage and date it occurred. When I say EVERYTHING, I mean it - every single tank of fuel that has been put in the car has been noted down (date, litres, price, mileage and calculated MPG!), every oil change, every filter change, every tyre change, every brake fluid change literally every single piece of maintenance is in there!
I don't have the details with me now, but I'm pretty sure the oil has been changed every 3k with filter every second change etc. etc. It has been waxoyled at least once a year before winter, usually in the spring too - it's still on it's original steel brakelines and they've never even been an advisory at MOT time, so I think that speaks for itself!
It's always been garaged too (hence the fact that it's still red, rather than pink!).
Currently it's in my dads garage whilst he's in hospital with a trickle charger connected to keep the (Bosch Silver) battery in tip top condition. It has 4 excellent Michelin tyres with loads of tread on them, it even has a near-full tank of fuel (he always kept the tank full, especially in winter to reduce condensation and the risk of it rotting away from the inside!).
Cosmetically it's pretty good although not perfect - it has a few stonechips, each of which has been touched in with a (genuine vauxhall!) touch-up paint stick, so although they haven't rusted, you can spot them. Also, (again from memory!), the rear bumper has a scratch on the near side where he just scraped a dry stone wall reversing a few years back.
As it is in the garage and has a bit of stuff around it, I've not taken it out for pics (hence the slightly shoddy phone pics!), although if someone is seriously interested I will get some better pics for them.
I think £500 is a very fair price for a rot-free Cavalier, and mechanically I very much doubt you'd find one better than this.
