What do you reckon to these? I've been offered a 76-77 'P' for #5000. It's an older restoration but still v.tidy with a great engine and phat stainless exhaust . Same colour as pick, but no hard top. What's the word on the street wiv Stags?

Great. Hehehe But no - smooth ride, best engine note EVA, excellent 3.0 engines when setup and maintained right, not a sports car more a convertible GT, comfortable interiors. And rapidly appreciating in prices. Dealer prices are starting to top out at 20k now...... It a manual or a 3 speed auto? Both boxes are great but the manual gets the best out of it as the engine revs to 7000, which the autobox just changes way before all the time ;D Have a good poke around it.......sounds worth the money though As Jeremy Clarkson said, possibly the best car British Leyland ever built Same colour in that vid I think! Still will have one soon - almost bought one this Summer but the guy had driven it into a lamppost just as I turned up. Not good. Drop 1", sports suspension, few mods, Holley 4 barrel, polished rims, front spoiler, rip it up ;D

I like Stags! There, I've said it. ;D As LewisK78 said, the Triumph V8 engine is great. It has a bad reputation for unreliability, fragility when it overheats and for doing its main bearings in short order - some of it deserved. But, properly rebuilt, with attention to detail and if you use antifreeze all year round (50:50 mix), best quality bearings, etc... It's a wonderful engine! Very revvy, lovely noise, as reliable as (almost) any old, BL vehicle... And they handle really well. Stags are not sports cars. They were BL's GT car. But consider all its virtues - VERY comfortable, decently fast (especially with a Holley carb and extractor exhausts ;D), erm, boot space, <cough>, and a convertible body design with a hardtop to boot... Get one! But get a good one. Look around at lots. Controversial bit - Despite what many folks quite possibly think, I think that Stags may even have retro potential... PhotoSh*p, anyone...? "I'm"

Stags rule.
They do also rot. As mentioned though, most of the initial problems have been sorted by now.
