I have a Manta prop to go the the 5spd getrag and Manta B axle To start with, I'm guessing its the one at the bottom of the picture. But if it is, can anyone confirm whether it's complete or not, as it seems strange to not have a joint at each end. I need to know pretty soon as I'm getting it shorted at Dave Mack's to go on the Kadett asap.

Don't some Mantas have a Torque tube arrangement?

Got an exploded view of a manta prop from the haynes manual here if it's any help. edit: I should point out that's from the non supplement section of the haynes so more about the non 1.8 version, not sure what the difference is though.

looking at the longer of your 2 props, the 'bare' end goes into the box and the other end bolts up to the torque tube.. standard kadett axle/prop standard chevette one.. if i find my haynes book for the manta i'll stick a pic on cos it covers manta b + c inc gte's..

manta prop... manta axle/torque tube.. manta 'revised' prop .. i think only difference between this prop and earlier ones is that it's attached to the pinion flange by 2 u bolts instead of 4 'ordinary' bolts.. so looking at your first pic, it looks like the manta prop is actually the top prop and the bottom one is the kadett one. hope this helps

You're correct coggers . The top one is the manta prop. I just need to get measured up and shortened now . For reference: David Mack in Coventry will shorten and balance a prop for £40, which seems good. Oh, I need to get the U-bolts, as they are missing.

The lower one is 1200 kadett as it goes straight in the back of the box.....one of the guys on the chevette forum wants one of them ;D He will yes, if your joints are in decent nick to start with ;D Mine needed both Ford Front joint and manta rear replacing when I took it to him The whole job was 94 quid inclusive cut, cut, weld, balance 30 ford sleeve yoke 20 heavy duty uj 18 1 tube yoke 12 Plus the VAT Well recommended though Reco prop wanted nearer 300 quid Dave Mac Propshafts: 02476 683239

The only GM axle I've seen with a flange was the Carlton which wasn't fitted with a torque tube and was 5 linked. The Manta A/B both had u clamps.
