Just looking for some opinions on the above. I've never owned any American metal before but am thinking of getting one of these, it's the 5.7Ltr V8. What are they like? Are parts available? Do they suffer from any specific problems.
I really am out of my comfort zone here so any advice would be much appriciated.
Thanks.

Pretty much everything is available from the States, they're not a bad truck but will be absolutely useless on fuel and not fast.

Ooo, now that's interesting, didn't expect it to be good on fuel but thought it would be a bit quick being a 5.7, don't mind a bit of a trade off fuel for power but that's given me something to think about... Thanks.

I got a C30 wrecker and pulled the V8 and replaced with a turbo diesel , not fast but it is economical

But you are trading poor fuel for the noise and the looks.

There is that of course :-)
It's been too long since I've had a v8, but at least the last one I had had some decent get up and go to match the noise it made.

The 1980 5.7 in my G30 truck has 190hp from the factory, so compared to a similar aged transit it has much more power, even taking into account the auto box, but its a lot heavier.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.
