YO. Solar powered calculators don't work at night, although as I type this I've also remembered my computer calculator of course But hey, I've started, so... Can somebody tell me what Cubic Inch Displacement of my 2300cc Volvo engine would be? I'm thinking it would fall into the 123-180CID class at Bonneville... ;D Pic to say thanks...

2300 cc = 140.354611 cubic inches So 140ci then 100ccs is approximate to 6.1 cubic inches, or (obviously) 1cc is equivalent to 0.0610 ci

61 is the numberm, just trying to work out which way now.... Edit: OK, divide ci by 61 to get litres. Or multiply litres by 61 to get ci

although now i think about I'm not sure you do a direct conversion as the yanks measure swept volume and we measure swept volume plus the area above the piston a tdc.
or the other way around
i think

Nice one guys, so 140ci... Thanks for that. ;D
Along with my trying to get to Peking in a 2CV plan, some of you will remember ( ;D) me talking about land speed records. I was given a copy of the 2006 SCTA rules/regs and records by the owner of the car I pictured.
Trying to find new ways to blow money and spend time abroad, I was just playing around to see which category my Volvo estate would fit into. It would appear to be PRO/F, which is production sedan then F for the 123-180CID engine size.
The only reason I asked was because the current record is 167.15mph set by a 280Z 2+2.
Well, shipping to NY then a round trip to Bonneville of approx 5700 miles plus race entrance might just work out to be cheaper than prepping a 2CV for Peking. Of course there's the small matter of prepping the Volvo, which would mean a turbo... But hey, we can all dream huh? ;D

If you do it, I'll be there to support you!* ;D *but not for long, I'm only popping on to the salt briefly!

DO IT! It's my dream to run on the salt. The class runs up to 2.94967152 litres by the way (note for everyone: google converts stuff if you ask it! clicky for demonstration...) so how about a geet big turbo, Penta crank and so on...? 2.5 litre? 500bhp? How much would you need to get your brick to 170? *n
