No, it hasn't quiet made it to the moon and back (thats about 240 000 miles) but it has served us very well ;D

Car was serviced by BMW Soper, Lincoln up until 193000 miles. They rebuild the engine at 190 000 miles for £4500, with a new radiator and various ancilarries as well as an inspection II.
The car was serviced by Stuart East, independent BMW specialist, at 204500 (May 2012 oil service) and again at 216000miles (Dec 2012 - Inspection 1) with a new MOT.
In the last year, it had a new gearbox oil cooler and fresh gearbox oil + filter, front brake pads and is currently running a set of Avon Ice touring M&S snow/winter tyres. The rears have about 6mm tread left, the fronts have 7,5mm left. With it comes a pair of Continental Sport contacts in the correct size, with about 4mm tread left.
I used the car to commute between hospitals as I work for the NHS and everything works as it should do. There isn't a light bulb or airco condenser or whatever that doesn't work as BMW intended.
But the bodywork lets it down, badly now. There is rust on the sills
Little bit of bubbling on the bonnet
and on the front pillar
The car has a dent in the boot and the area underneath the bootlid is rusty, spreading to the rear arches

and the front N/s wing and bumper is dented
The car was 4 wheel aligned and corner weighted at 204000 miles and again at 216000 miles. There are no untoward noises, rattles and steers/brakes/holds the road as intended.
It comes with a towing hook that was used to tow a small trailer for hay for the horses.
The car comes with an A4 folder with all the bills, the stamped service book and 2 remote keys.
We went over christmas to Belgium and Germany- 972 miles and the car is not using a drop of oil. Three green lights left on the service interval indicator.
I hope it finds a good home and I am aware that the value is proverbially doubled by filling the tank.
It is a lot of car but the bodywork needs a bit of work. These E39 are not cheap to maintain whilst the consumption is consistently 26mpg, so be warned! Technically the car is very very very good, but the bodywork is bad. The Interior is mint.
It is going to be replaced by a 6 series.....
Cheers,
Bert
