Was just Googling for an image of one after mentioning on another forum about the advert in the 1980s with one in. "If you don't smoke for a year, you'll save enough to buy a family car" Found a couple of corkers Nice angle How long And the one that caught my eye

The SD1 estate is gorgeous, it's a shame they never made it. Obscurity value makes me really want a 2400SD (Turbo-Diesel SD1), there was one on eBay quite recently but too expensive for me.

Not sure if I've posted this shot before but this seems like a good excuse Also as far as I know you can't tell that the red one is a Twin Plenum from that photo. I believe the deep spolier was just a later alternative. And there's not much (if an) performance difference over a single plenum in the road cars anyway

Another Boxer manifold! Thats two of the 20 (?) or so made I've seen then! A mate has one in his Vanguard.

"fancy a bonk!" thats what they say IIRC. I do feel a little bad these lovely things donated me an engine some year ago for my project!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yea, this was the one used for the original magazine adverts for them (the car and the manifold, apparently!)

The owner was most likely claiming a lot of guff then ;D An awful lot of people do, when it comes to Rover V8s. To put things in perspective a a 10 grand (yes!) 5.0 Wildcat Rover V8 puts out a proven whopping 370BHP @ 5900 for example and a stump-pulling 340lb/ft @ 5600RPM If you spend a fortune on heads, or an awful amount of time, you can get ~280BHP proven out of a top-spec 3.9 however That's the route I intend to go - retaining the shorter stroke, so it'll rev to 7000RPM safely and all day long...

The blue one in my pic was my dads last car. I'd sell whatever I'd have to to buy it if I ever saw it for sale. It was a well tweaked .030 over 3.5 single plenum with a dyno'd 260-270 hp. I believe the GpA touring cars were only up at around 300. The twin plenums still breathed through the same single air flow meter so any performance gain could only have come with improved flow characterisitcs inside the plenum chamber itself. Edit: just read Lewis' post. I was in my dads listening to 6500rpm a couple of times. ;D

nice cars, really badly built. much better V8's available to play with these days, lighter more powefull units with cheaper performance parts. handy in their day though when they were in every scrappy you went to.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.
