Right, I have bought this here Golf Syncro  which is a lovely car... I have to collect it on Saturday........ Car is in Kendal I live in Essex  So, Option 1 drive up to Warwick from Salisbury (Where I am working) and stay overnight on Friday, Pick up Hollywood saturday AM and then drive to Kendal, collect car, drive both cars down to Essex stay in essex Saturday night, Sunday drive back up to Warwick to deposit Hollywood, stay Sunday night in Warwick, Drive down to Salisbury for work on Monday Morning Option 2: Drive home to Essex Friday night, get Train early in morning, 6.5 hrs and 100quid later get to Kendal, collect car, drive back down to Essex Saturday night, drive to work on Monday from Essex Option 3: Drive back to Essex Friday, Persuade someone to give me a lift to Stansted at stupid o`clock Saturday morning Fly stansted to Blackpool - Cost 4.99, get bus from Blackpool to Preston, Train from Preston to Kendal cost 15quid, collect car, drive back down to Essex Saturday night, go to work from Essex Monday morning...... Anyone got any other suggestions ?? All will be gratefully recieved ;D Cheers Dom |

.... phone the transport man. Await delivery. Get on with other projects. Sure it will cost. But add togther the cost of fuel, public transport, temporary insurance cover (if applicable), b&b's yadda yadda. Then add your time on at say £20 per hour (just a rough figure... use your own rule of thumb if nesc.) Does it look so costly now? |

I think option 3 out of that lot. Cheapest and quickest. Do they add fuel duty to that £4.99 air fare? Even if they did, it's still amazingly cheap.

If you have to be there and there is no one local to yourself to drive up with you then go for option 3.

Shame it's this weekend, Next weekend i will be down in east grinstead and driving back to scotland, could have given you a lift up to Kendal

I leave for Japan on the 5th March I have another week here in salisbury next week, week after is going to be spent at Ricardo Sites Getting briefed on the Japan job and some Pro-E Cad training to get me back up to speed on that , I have then got to get the syncro out to France and see Jane and bring the other one back again I also still have a load of stuff to sort out at home before I go.... which I can only do during the week so I am a bit stuffed I did suggest Jane drive home in the wounded syncro as the snow wasnt great at the moment then we could both collect the new one and she could drive it back to France again ;D but she was strangely not keen on that one So to use a whole weekend just collecting a car is a bit much really, Train is arguably least hassle as its door to door, but I cant afford the 6.5 hours journey time up there when I have to drive back the same day as well Flying cuts that in half even including the drive to the airport Cheers Dom |

stopping off in Stafford on friday night, then going down to feltham on sat, staying in feltham on sat night.
Heading down to east grinstead on sunday before driving back home
probably be coming down M6 most of the way
