Bought this car a few years ago as a weekend cruiser, then after about a year passed it onto my parents who used it for the odd long distant trip. Now it's back in my hands to sell on - so actually only one previous owner before us. It's a really nice example that's never let us down, even manages about 30mpg on a long run. Plus being the better 4 litre with Sports button it's not exactly slow! Strangely the 4ltr doesn't seem to be any worse on fuel than the 3.2ltr my Dad used to have.
When I bought it, it was a one owner car with full service history, and while it's been in the family I've done most of the work on it myself (I'm an automotive engineer). It's been serviced whenever it needed it and has generally been doted on. It's in very good condition for the year and runs/drives great.
MOT is up in April, Tax in March. Can't see any reason it won't pass next test with ease. Mileage is 133,650 which is nothing for one of these.
So a bit more detail:
- Full 50,000mile service when I got it. Included all fluids (including brake and coolant) also replaced gearbox oil filter, fuel filter. Has had an engine oil/filter change last autumn
- Diff pinion oil seal changed in 2010 as it was leaking (common fault on these)
- Replaced all front suspension ball joints in 2010
- Replaced front damper top bushes in 2012 (most X300's of these age will need this doing if not already.
- Air-conditioning compressor replaced with recon item and full system service (this was done by Jag specialist, cost well over £300 (and that was mates rates!). Also had an AC service at the start of January to make sure everything is in tip top condition and to ensure it keeps working.
- Pair of new Marshall tyres on the rear Dec 2011, still loads of tread. Fronts have plenty of tread too.
- Wheels were refurbished in 2011, still looking good but lacquer is just starting to go on a couple.
- Replaced front fog lamp as it was chipped (only did that last week)
- Body work generally very good, especially for it's age. Few stone chips, and tiny bit of rust just starting to show on rear arch, but it's still one of the best I've seen.
- No nasty noises from the suspension, and the back end is sat at the right height (no sagging springs here)
- New rear silencers on both sides last year
- Interior very good for age, if I'm being picky there are a couple of marks. Rear seats hardly used.
- Clock works! Though only because I've had it to bits to fix it - so knowing my luck the moment someone comes to look at it, one bar will stop working! Mileage display has a couple of digits which can be a bit intermittent.
That's about it really. Come have a look, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Could do with the space freeing up, so am open to offers. Car is in Southam, Warks.
