Most of the hate for knockoff wheels comes from people with "genuine" wheels. Once a wheel design is replicated, it becomes common, as with the recent BBS RS and LM trend. If you have spent a considerable part of your savings on a set of dream wheels you don't want to see some flat-brim-cap-wearing tosser with similar-looking budget wheels on his cut-spring rustbucket (passing them off as the genuine article of course) There is also the matter of the quality in some cases being substandard on knockoffs. The structural integrity of the wheel is not something you want to compromise on. The weight of the wheel can also factor in. The thing with buying new wheels (this counts doubly for replicas) is that they will lose around half their value pretty much the instant you buy them. If you buy used, genuine wheels you can probably resell them for the same amount of money unless you curb/damage them or paint them a silly colour. Personally, I don't want to own a set of knockoffs. But it is your own decision to make.

Those image Rovo copies i bet are better qlity that the real deal LOL Proper dished bastards there too I get the quality issue thou, but if i managed for some miracle to get myself a set of real SSR MKs, just to name a set, i sure wouldnt give half a bent penny if anyone rolls besides me with a set of copies, even thou i can understand the annoying-ness of some clueless folks, but that is a diffrent topic entirely imo.

For me, part of the "fun" of owning SSR Mk's is that they are rare and desirable. I guess I'm petty that way

HARDLY!!!! Original 13" Revoultion RMX four spokes are a thing of beauty unlike Xerox ( Image)Wheels' extreemly poor "copy"
Originals were primary heat treated and age hardened LM25 Image wheels castings secondary alloy

They've had a lot of bad press too. Care to elaborate? I've never heard a bad word said against them besides their price. The ones I've had any experience with have been great too. One of my best mates had a set. The rear barrel cracked on one, no dents or dings in the rim, he hadn't hit anything that he knew of. He wanted to go wider, so bought 2 wider ones, we rebuilt the wheels, in less than 3 months, one of the new ones had cracked again. Again, no dents or dings in the rim. They didn't want to know...

Ok, i trust the shared knowledge. As i mentioned already aint all that clued on this stuff, ive always been more of a fan that anytningelse.
But yeah, owning hard to find, desirable auto parts is sure something i enjoy too, i simply don't mind if someone else takes the easy route. After all i do too at times, mostly forced by the miserable paycheck i get...
