Brilliant project, one to watch. I like the history of the Viva as i'm a staff member at the Cold War museum where the previous owner was based.

In a word..... Challenge It’s actually not as bad as it looks inner wings and sills are solid, chassis only need a few repairs It could be a lot worse considering it’s stood for 23 years

Thanks, i'd love to track down the previous owner, i bet he would never have thought when he left the car that it would still be around 24 years later in basically the same condition he left it in Still has his newspaper in

More pics The plan is to do the work needed to get a mot and drive it as it is, as I have rebuilt my other HA with lots of new parts I have lots of good used parts left over so it won’t cost me a lot to get it back on the road For those not familiar with the viva HA models there was 5 produced Standard, deluxe, SL, SL90, deluxe90 The standard was the basic model, rubber mats, no heater, no chrome trims, one sun visor, no screen wash, non opening rear windows ect I suppose because it was so basic it wasn’t popular in the uk especially with no heater means its quite a rare car, as far as I know this is the only viva ha standard known to the viva club here in the uk

Blimey, standard really did mean standard way back then...!!!
I cannot wait to see this rarity get a full and thorough clean-up as that'd completely change the look of it before anything else commences...
Brilliant find, brilliant save!

Any 'Standard' model of whatever marque is rare as these were the ones that were peanuts to buy and most likely to be trashed and chucked away. Preserving what is there is what i'd do, I love the boggo versions of whatever model as these are far fewer than the more upmarket versions. Ghias, GLSs Pah, not for me thanks. Also, what was the name of the previous owner as i may be able to trace him. there's a FB page and also we have some records available.

Looking forward to seeing how you do it, obviously it will have a different character to your other example? The plan is just to get it up to mot standard, I want to do as little as possible really as the car has lots of character as it is, a full restoration would loose its character and history and just turn it into another shiny classic that would blend in with all the rest

This car is going to look just brilliant... I am all for the 'povvo-spec' motors but as you quite rightly said, they got treated like rubbish! I had a Cortina L many years ago and it's simplicity was wonderful, a luxury all in its own way perversely! Now I have a Mk1 Granada Ghia because 18 months of looking at completely shagged L's and GL's was just depressing, oh and they did have a Ghia during the last series of The Sweeney...!!! Anyhow, back on topic, good luck with getting this glorious little delight back on the open road...
