I'm not sure that's the ideal engine choice for power and reliability, but it's certainly an interesting one!

I remember seeing a Tatra military vehicle at a (strangely enough) militarty vehicle show. It was eight wheel drive and had a something like 17 litre V12 air-cooled engine. Sounded pretty good, as you can imagine!

Over there, the Tatra V8 engine is probably as close to the Rover V8 as it gets. Everything else would have to be imported, and remember, it isn't so long ago when that would have be very, very difficult. So you learn to make the best out of what you have.
While still not common place, I bet Tatra V8 engine parts are easier to find the Chevy or Rover, at local money prices.
