anyone used 1.8 escort fwd diesel engine in rwd configuration easy to wire up or not any other problems other than mountings all info appreciated thanks for reading gordon

wiring shouldn't be a problem, but from memory the clutch can be. a rwd clutch (type 9) won't fit the flywheel. i seem to recall something to do with the starter as well, needing to use a sierra/p100 set up.

Non turbo? just one wire to the shut off valve (use the coil feed from the car it's going in). I used a lot of sierra diesel parts like sump (rear bowl), flywheel and rear oil seal and the RWD mounting points are already on the block so you can use any ford RWD engine mount ot make your own If you use the FWD flywheel the FWD starter wont engauge properly cos of the RWD B/H starter position and the RWD starter wont engauge cos of the flyweel depth (ring gear in the wronge place) which is why iused the RWD flywheel, which needed the RWD rear oil seal as well to use, i never did sort a starter to match the FWD flywheel cos i had the RWD parts to hand Changing the front case and water pump to RWD makes it easyer for the bottom hose as it will place it on the opposite side to the top one in FWD config they both exit on te same side but it's do-able with some bends and steel pipe

everything from a rwd version bolts straight on which is the easiets option, only one issue is the crank oil seal plate doesot n have the same number of holes when swapping, ive heard ppl jut using the 2 that line up, when i did it i just drilled and tapped third hole.
this was using a mondeo td engine replacing a broken sierra p100 td engine.

I did exactly the same, twice, once i tapped once i just used extra sealant mind you the extra sealant on is still in the P100 4 year later no leaks but tapping the 3rd hole is deffo best ;D trouble is finding RWD parts
