Saw this still soldiering on doing its job lugging equipment around for a window cleaner. Looking pretty tidy to be fair! Anyone else see any old commercial vehicles still being used by a business in everyday use? Pics would be awesome

I see this reasonably often chugging about locally in the hands of a painter/decorator type.

A quick trawl through my Flickr photostream unearthed these beauties. Not many of these left now. Lovely old TK. Horseboxes have a fairly easy life, but it's great to see older trucks still capable of earning a crust. The first wagon I ever drove was a TK, they really were years ahead of their time when first introduced in 1961. Earlyish LT, no idea if it's a diesel or petrol. I started driving for a living in 1988 and the firm I worked for had two petrol-powered LT's. They were later ones with the 2.4 litre straight-six engines and whilst they were astonishingly fast, they used to average just 11mpg when driven like we did (basically flat-out everywhere). Late-50s Bedford CA still earning its keep selling ice-creams in Coventry a couple of summers back. Yes it's a museum piece as well, but this 1965 BMMO D9 double-decker is still used for carrying fare-paying passengers on weekends at the Birmingham Museum of Transport. The D9 was known as 'Birmingham's Routemaster' back in the 60's, and in many ways was much more technically-advanced than its London cousin. Our old rally service barge. I still see quite a few Cargos about, despite the last examples now being 22 years old. This one was athe less-powerful 110bhp version, was a bit...erm...slow, so Dean replaced it with this one in 2010... Considerably older, but the extra 400cc/20bhp made a BIG difference. Too old to be speed-limited, it would sit happily on the motorway at 65-70 with the trailer/rally car on the back. Unfortunately the dreaded tinworm had taken hold of the cab to a fair extent, so we now use an early Merc Sprinter as a barge, the Cargo was sold to some New Age Travellers I believe. Late 70's Iron Fairy crane still in daily use at Newlyn Docks down in Cornwall.

There's an old-style sweet shop around Reading which uses a Morris Minor van as a runaround/promo vehicle.
Also saw an old Bedford ice cream van being used to sell coffee near the ExCel centre in London last week.

That Bedford TK brought the memories back. I was a commercial mechanic for 20 odd years. The first few years of that for the NCB & we had loads of them. No tilt cab, head gasket nightmare, nice back ache job!
