If you've downloaded it, thanks. Feel free to comment, especially if you find any errors in the database, which are easily fixable. More cars will be added all the time so it won't go stale, also will be adding the ability to play with different categories, i.e. 60s cars, 80s cars, retro rides (will be getting its own category) etc and two player so you can challenge a friend (about 2 weeks away).

I thought vw scirocco was how it was spelt?
I got it wrong apparently spelt sirroco???
No wonder I got that one wrong!

It doesn't 'do' anything, it's a game. From the screenshots, it appear to be a 'scratchcard' game, where you rub the screen to reveal a picture, then ID the car. |

OK, I bought it (I don't usually buy this sort of thing!), I played it....but to be honest there are so many flaws I wish I hadn't paid for it. A couple of things that annoyed me from the outset, there's no way to turn the really annoying sounds off without putting the phone on silent (I then forgot to turn the sound back on afterwards and missed some important calls!). I would see about putting in an option to change the 'game' volume levels and turning the game sounds off completely. When you 'swipe' the screen, the score isn't based on the percentage of pixels you remove, but more the amount of screen you've swiped. A number of times I missed a tiny bit of detail but lost lots of points just trying to remove that little bit. Basically, if you wiped 5% of the screen a few times, you can lose 50% of the score. Surely that's not how it works? It's almost better to do a random swipe than try to be accurate in revealing only a little bit of the image. Then there is the really frustrating thing where the names assigned have to be so accurate (or in some cases, not accurate enough) in order not to lose the whole game. Two examples: A picture of a Vauxhall Corsa VXR *failed* because the answer was Vauxhall Corsa. Yet... A picture of a Porsche 911 *failed* because the answer was a Porsche 911 Sport!! How do you determine it's a 911 Sport? Also, some of the pics need the whole screen clearing to be able to guess the car correctly. How can I tell is a Bentley Continetal GT is a convertible unless I clear most of the screen (leaving me with no points which defeats the object surely? Or failing the whole game because I dared to guess based on the grille lights being correct?) Here are some more that I found before completely giving up and never wanting to play it again. The correct/required answer is the first one, the failed answer is the second one. See if you can spot any problems without even seeing the pictures? BMW 645i (6 Series, 635i, 650i = fail) Citroen 2CV6 (Citroen 2cv = fail) Bentley Continental GTC (Bentley Continental GT Convertible = fail) Vauxhall Corsa (Vauxhall Corsa VXR = fail) Alfasud Sprint (Alfa Romeo Sprint = fail) Alfasud (Alfa Romeo Alfasud = fail) BMW 520 (BMW E28 = fail) Suzuki Grand Vitara (Suzuki Vitara = fail) Peugeot 407 Coupe (Peugeot 407 = fail) TVR 3000m (TVR 3000s not accepted) Renault Spider (Renault Sport Spider = fail) Porsche 911 Sport (Porsche 911 = fail) BMW 316 (BMW E21 = fail) And my fave of the lot before I threw the towel in: Lotus Exige (Maserati Quattroporte = fail) I even looked up the Maserati and the pic you've used it the same one that you've marked as a Lotus Exige. SO there you have it, 69p richer let alone some decent feedback. It's a good idea, I wanted to support it but it really feels ill thought through and very inaccurate. For that, I can only give it 2/10 I'm afraid.  |

All feedback is good feedback. I agree with your comments re the car names in many cases and I'll be amending them this afternoon. To be honest the cars are the hardest to keep some consistency with but I think I'll err on the side of easier = better. It was a conscious decision NOT to go the route of BMW E23 etc as these designations are not used by most people., however when we add in more specific packs the retro rides one WILL require this as it's more common currency.
The Maserati/Lotus error is a straight up and down database entry error. Will fix that asap.
The comments re the screen wiping are interesting, its not something that has in testing or on the other titles, however its worth noting and I will look into varying this in the next version. The same with the volume. A sounds on/off button will now be in v2.
I hope the fact that your feedback is being positively received helps you look more favourably on the game. ;D

mind you a lot of the fails you have mentioned actually result in a "nearly" dialogue so it's not quite as harsh as you make out.

I'm on Android and never pay for games, but based on MM's observations would it be possible to have several correct answers in some cases? So a car could be a BMW E30 and a BMW 325i?

Installed this yesterday, i like the idea but i think there are a lot of issues to resolve. Had a quick play at work earlier and without a wifi connection and no 3g signal it was very Buggy. Started up and said 'Hang on a sec Finding pictures' 5 minutes later without any pictures loaded i closed the app and tried again. Same thing came up while it tried to download pics, so bored by now i started clearing the screen, it let me and the points were still 0. 2minutes later the picture appeared (which i could see all of as i'd cleared the screen) and i had a full 1000 points, result ;D Went to the next car and started clearing off but there was no picture of a car bellow So i Passed and went to the next when the app crashed. At this point i gave up. Tonight i've had another play and think the scoring system needs a major revisit, if you put your finger on the screen and just roll it sideways a little you can reveal little dots like this. Still got 929 points and you can see most of the car  Or if you move slowly you can do lines all over the screen, the patterns are just to show it clearly  Not trying to make patterns you can clear the screen for barely any loss of points  As has been said some of the car names are wrong, and some are far too picky. If you're going to use model and version (eg GTI) then you have to do it for all of the cars not just some. You also have to be sure that whatever the defining feature of that model is shown in the pic, i can think of several modern cars that look 100% the same apart from at one angle (often the tail pipes) Ideally both of the following would be correct answers rather than just the 2nd Volkswagen Golf GTi (wrong) Volkswagen Golf (right) it was a gti Ferrari 308 (wrong) Ferrari 308 GTS (right) Mazda MX5 (wrong) Mazda MX-5 (right) Hmmmm  Landrover Defender (wrong) Land Rover Defender (right) While i realise it is actually 2 words is that really the wrong answer Citroen Visa GTi (wrong) Citroen Visa (right) shame it was a GTi as seen in the 2nd picture above So now some suggestions, i think the game being over if you get a question wrong is too harsh. Why not loose 500 points (or some amount) for each wrong answer, or have 3 lives to loose (and you can earn lives by getting 3 or 5 in a row right) When you get the car right it would be nice to see the full clear pic of the car, infact that goes for if you get it worng aswell. Might be worth splitting the cars into different classes such as modern, classic etc as some people don't know (or care) about modern cars. |
