Hi Guys,
I'm planning on fitting wider tyres to my new ride which currently runs on 145R15s. The rim width is 4.5" and I'd like to run 175s if possible, but is that too wide?? I run 205s on my 5.5" Beetle wheels, so in comparison, it sounds ok.....
Cheers

We're running 175/70's on a set of 4 1/2" wide 13" steels.....

Cheers yep sounds ok to me you don't want to much ballooning so don't go for lo pro's as the ride quality will be compromised on cornering.. and thats from experience

Cheers guy! I thought I was probably on the right track (no punn intended). Won't be going low profile though....probably 175/65R15s. I'd like 165/70R15s, but they don't seem to exist....

I put 195s on a 5" so you should be fine at that.

My memory is rubbish but I think 145R15's will be 145/70 15's So if you want to keep the rolling radius right you will need to drop the profile in line with the increase in width 2/1 ratio ie Up 2 on width and down 1 on profile 145/70 15 165/65 15 185/60 15

My memory is rubbish but I think 145R15's will be 145/70 15's I'm pretty sure that a non-defined profile is actually 80 or 85. 70's are already low profile
