The time has come to sell on my fiancee's Corsa B, because after 4 years of ownership it really is time for her to move on to something with a bigger engine. Being a 1.0 its lower insurance and its an idea car for a new driver/learner driver. It would also be a good candidate for a redtop conversion (we actually wanted to put a 1.7td in it, but have decided it would be better if she just bought a Mk3 Astra 1.7td). Whatever has ever needed spending on this car has been done so, the engine and gearbox are good and its got plenty of life left in it.
This is not your average Corsa Chav wagon, its been well looked after. Just off the top of my head, work recently carried out:
Clutch (this week)
New Top mounts and lower arms (this week)
Rear Bearings (January)
New EGR Valve and Idle Control Valve Stepper motor (? or something like that) (November)
Front bearings (both sides) (last year)
Front discs and pads (last year)
Plastic arches renewed all round due to typical fading (April last year)
Front headlights replaced due to pitting of the reflective surface (April last year)
Timing chain (last year)
Water pump (when timing chain was done)
Serviced every year (shes on a limited mileage policy and does low miles = 6k a year approx)
The car is quite low on Jom Blueline coilovers, I have measured it against a standard ride height Corsa to be 80mm down. That said, it drives well. It is sat on BMW Mini one R81 Imola wheels which are a 5.5j x 15 - although narrow these fit on the Corsa well, and were refurbished last year in Vauxhall Silver at a cost of £200, and with 4 new BMW mini centre caps. These wheels have only been on the car in the summer months and have done less than 3000 miles since refurb and have not seen salt or grit. They are shod in good Bridgestone Potenza 165/50/15's which were about £60 a corner. If the Mini wheels are NOT wanted in the deal, the car will come with the 14" corsa steel wheels with good tyres that we use in the winter - these were painted Ford Capri Purple a couple of yars ago ;D
The missus takes this car to a few local shows, and the VBOA at billing, so April 2012 we gave it a freshen up, replacing all the plastic arches with new (£25 plus about £30 at Vauxhall for all new clips and plastic bolts ), a replacement good second hand front bumper and bumper bar due to the car having been nudged when she first had it, and headlights as the chrome in the original ones was pitting. We bought a brocade yellow rear hatch that has had the rear wiper and lock deleted and smoothed over to a good standard, however we have never got around to fitting it as she wanted the GSI spoiler on it painting gloss black. This will be included in the sale, along with the smoked lights she has used in the past.
Bad points
The paintwork is a bit patchy to be honest. My other half had the car resprayed when she first bought it in 2009 and it wasn't the best of jobs, and since then we have had the b pillars welded where corsa's do seem to crack/rust on the swage line (for the mot last september), so these have been quickly blown in. However, it is certainly presentable. There is also a slight crease in the leading edge of the bonnet, this isn't that noticeable and is hidden by the bra.
It had some welding for the last MOT (boot floor around the bungs, couple of small patches in the rear inner arches, one patch to drivers sill. All welding was done to a very good standard with no expense spared.
Uses a little water, I haven't had time to fully chase down the leak, but I have a new header tank to include.
No ICE will be included in the sale.
