I am sure that there are some of you clever guys on here who know the answer or where to get it. Some of you probably know that I am looking at buying an early 60's Chevy Pickup truck to endorse my Redneck leanings...... Does anyone know how many of the following models are registered, on the road, or SORN'd in the UK or even here and in Ireland? I would like to know about 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966 models, but the first two years are the most interesting. I hope my question makes sense, and that someone has an answer. As a redemption down payment, have some pics..... I believe this is a '61 as the nostrils have a horizontal bar next to the indicator/park lights. And I believe this is a '60 with the vertical grilles next to the parking lights And their GMC cousin.... these were more basic work trucks. Many more pics on this thread. 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=563978&highlight=1960+chevyYou should see the other car !!!

Strange I was looking at the 'snout' chevy pick ups a while back, but was looking at prices to bring one over from America. Not a snout, but this looks good and is $2250 www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C273568#Hey Chris, Interestingly, the "Ugly Snout" trucks were hated so much in the USA that when the '62 model came out, people would remove the bonet and replace them with newer ones from the dealer.... Today, they are rare and collectible so everyone wants them. The bonnets between '60-66 are all interchangeable. Many people still remove older ones and replace with newer for some reason. I think importing your own is a great way to go. Speak with Tim "Bratman" on here, he brought in his own truck, with camper body, and loaded it with spares to sell on and use himself. So if you bought a decent truck there and added an unwanted cheap canopy (remember my thread a while back?) and then put in stuff like gearboxes, panels and wheels..... you could make a profit, even after import duties. I will be replacing my glass front screen in the USA and probably have some other work done there with new wheels fitted before exporting it. Then it starts to make a lot of sense, because you get to own it, after all costs, at clost to half what you could pay for the same truck in the UK. Spares are not a problem either. Local or courier services are great.

Try www.howmanyleft.co.uk for a definative answer. However, I am not 100% sure that the numbers on there are correct. I't not always. Depends on how the vehicles were entered into the database. I've tried to use them to searc for old motorbikes that I know exist and got no matches.... I tried them for this and under "missing" it came up with 12 for 1960 and 2 for 1961

I found a long bed 64 Fleetside on eBay US for just under $2000. Thought it looked cool so sent the details to a friend of mine who bought it and imported it, owed him just under £3000 landed, delivered and cleared. Then set to it, and currently it's looking like this...

Hi Dan,
Col's truck is rather cool.
I have PM'd him before.
I would not put as much work in as he has.... but would love that look as long as the "normal" ride was decent on bags.
He did very well with that truck and it just shows, it can be done for sensible money, as long as you follow the rules.
