front reminds me of a Rover P6 its a shame it turned out the way it did, i think with the right wheels, lowered properly and with that horrid spoiler in the bin it could look cool! even with something like BBS style wheels in 17s and it could work

I quite like the majority of this, even the massive wheels work, for me, because the arches are right. I find the spoiler questionable but not offensive and I think the front valance lets the whole thing down, but other than that I think this looks pretty spot on as per the pictures Garry posted.
It's a tough looking car, it sits pretty well and looks like it's designed to do a job. Function over form isn't always pretty, but this is one of those cars that I can forgive the shortcomings on for the end result.

Looks like it could make a stormer of a rally car. Other than that I'd have to agree with most of the comments already posted.
great idea - poor execution!

Looks like every other bodyshell stuck on a 4x4 chassis Shame really, it would probably of been less work to drop the engine in and fab up subframe mounts to make it look right. I also doubt it would make a great rally car, they're high because of the suspension etc, this has a road car chassis with a bodyshell welded high up on it, nothing more...

Look at the original blue 120Y on the first page, then the finished article. I don't think its welded high, it IS a high body. The wheels just accentuate that, but logically, its because of the big brakes, suspension, bulkhead etc. The only way to avoid that would be to not use a 120Y or an R32 GTR I reckon.
Everything usually does look better slammed, but theres a limit to money/time/skill.

looks like they forgot the 1st rule of bodyswapping (get a body that fits or can be made to fit first) love the idea though but would have probably been better just shoehorning the engine in the 120y

Well - it's not the height per se that's the (a) problem. It's the size of the wheels, in relation to where they sit relative to the body. Complicated and in the end the awnser is still 'it's too tall'. But there are other 'tall' cars with big wheels that don't look half as bad. I think the arches do it. They'd need to be a couple of inches higher and then the wheels had to come just a few inches closer to them and it could work, I guess. The frist pic of it sans arches doesn't look half bad!! Potential right there! It CAN work! Example? The 'Ringmini'. A Mini with huge 15" wheels, and not stricktly speaking very much lowered:

I think the wheels are Desmond Regamasters? (IMO one of the best wheel names ever!) All the ingredients are there, like a fantastic coq au vin, like if you used 1kg of salt, 1 mushroom, and 10g of chicken, it would taste terrible. There are certain elements in a recipe you cannot ignore, or the results could be terrible. I love the wheels I love the engine / drivetrain I love the bodyshell I even love the colour But they have been weighed out wrong! It can be done right, S1 short sport Subaru?

The whole job looks a 50/50 affair............ 50% imagination and 50% that'll do!
Why put all that effort in and give up half way??
Unless thats what they want us to think.............. so in all fairness job well done!
Its thier car, they can do what they want!
Respect due and to be fair can anybody here do whats be done???
I'll post some pictures of my chassis swap 1 day..... when I've even started it lol

Fair play to the guy, thats refreshingly different
Only thing I would do is change the front valance/intercooler housing to make it blend in a bit more but other than that I like it a lot
Looks like a lotta fun ;D

It looked lovely when it was running the pinto. The R32 is a timeless classic too. Separately, 2 great cars.

i like it and unlike all the slammed "performance" cars out there you can prob use this one on the roads and drive it hard down some nice b roads or whites. form follows function, if it don't work then no matter how good it looks whats the point?

if it don't look good whats the point? FTFY Actually I do agree with you, but on todays roads you can't really use the performance anyway. I spend most of my time stuck behind rover 25s and sitting in jams or at traffic lights. There's something satisfying about rolling down the street at 20mph with everyone checking your car out. Why not want both? Anyway, this car is an awesome idea and in my head I would say it is definitely both. I'm sure there is a way to improve it without losing the function.
