If all goes to plan over the next few months I should get a nice bonus from work and should be able to get my plan going.
The plan is to add another Acclaim to collection, preferably a CD/HLS and keep it stock. This will then allow me to customise my HL slightly.
The plan is to create a replica of the "Rally" style that was advertised in the Acclaim Unipart Catalogue of the period. Its a faily subtle look with just a decal at the base of the door, a small lip spoiler on the boot and some nice fog and additional driving lights.
My question if this, if I where to create a custom exhaust what would I have to take into consideration? I was thinking of prehaps modifying a Honda one but ideas would be appriciated.
Cheers

Hmmm theres a load of technical stuff to be chatted aout by someone more techy than me, back pressure etc. depends what you want it for, performance, style, quietness, etc then if its performance its gets more complex, generally if you just want a replacement thats not to hard in practice. you could have a powerflow type one fitted copied off your current one, have a real posh custom one made and designed £££, or weld up your own with choice bends and silencers. HTH, idea sounds great.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Are you thinking of changing the manifold? I think that's probably the most important part of the system tuning-wise and is pretty scientific. If I were going that route I would be very tempted to get the pro's involved, for that part at least. As for the rest of the system, if I was doing it myself I reckon I'd go for something simple, unrestrictive but not ridiculous bore size, with one silencer... maybe centre-exit if possible... but my approach isn't all that scientific, I tend to just bolt stuff on and see what happens (sort of!) Like reanimation said though, there are people on here that will probably be able to give you a more technical perspective. I've heard good and bad things about Powerflow, but a company such as them would definitely be able to help you get a set-up which meets your needs. Do you have pics of the Rally Acclaim? I've never seen one!

I was planning something pretty simple, leaving the manifold as standard.
I am not into big bore exhaust so definatly wont go down that route and am planning to leave the exit where it is.
As for a pic I haven seen one but there are some pictures in the unipart catalogue of the "Rally Pack" and that is what I am going to base it on. I will post a link up of the scans when I get home.

Nice on benzboy, i forgot, was gonna mention manifolds. a science in its self, i was looking at some custom tubulars for my V8 and it was likely to be about £400 for both sides custom IIRC maybe more. and still restrictiveish cos of the clearance Anyway full circle, I'm keeping my casties for now as they are already decent ones and should last too. However depending on what you have this could be a good place to start as BB said Again i'll shut up and await some of our engineers advice for you.
