Yep, that looks pretty cool. Need to lose the overiders adn spotlights though. meatloaf "you took the word right outta my mouth etc" . . . not sure how custom you're going with it... you could try for merc style "teeth" grill but could be too much... a'la:

Personally I'd keep it standard...although it'd be interesting to see what it would look like painted black. Modifying cars isn't just about changing stuff, it's about changing stuff for the better. If you feel a new grille is the way to go, the that's cool, but changing something that works just for the hell of it is where so many cars go wrong. What you say is true but... I'm assuming that we're going for a Kustom look here, and the one big defining thihng (after the chop and slam) on a sled is a custom grill. The Consul Grill is onviously povo spec, plain mesh screams base model. Customs are supposed to be luxurious, opulant and plush. So the grill needs to go. Work something around a Zephyr/Zodiac grill?

That Mercury above has got DeSoto grille teeth. They came as standard on 1951-53 DeSotos!
I've seen something similar done on the cheap over here using chrome exhaust pipe ends (the ones that are turned down at the end), arranged facing inwards and trimmed to different heights to follow the curved upper grille opening.
I think you need quite a substantial front bumper to complement large grille teeth. Horizontal tube grilles or bars contribute to a lower appearance. I suppose it all depends on what you like the look of best!

Sorry, I know it's annoying, but I couldn't resist it! The Consul Classic was one specific model, then the Consul Capri was another. You could call the Consul Capri a classic, but there's no car called a Consul Classic Capri.

Mean, Vertical and simple just like me! ;D My grandad had a Consol, he worked at Fords and drove it off the production line and then home, i saw it a few years ago still with its original plate 6498PU don't know if its still around now.
