Hub flanges clean?
Has it got aftermarket wheels? If so does it have hubcentric adaptors?

It does it while driving it is fitted with e 39 wheels Thanks the hub bore is larger on an e39 than the e34 (74mm to 72.5mm) this means you need spigot rings to run the wheels or you will suffer with wheel shake. the spigot rings arent expensive and should solve your problem

Just for your own information, as I think joem83 was heading toward, if you ever get vibration under braking it could well be the upper arms of the front suspension have worn. I had this on two of my past three E34's. Quite a common thing with these old cars.

One other thing worth knowing (although I'm fairly sure the e39 wheels without spigot rings is your issue) is the front inserts can wear. On my old e34 the shaft had worn inside the insert and there was lateral play which caused a massive wobble under braking.

My vote goes for the bushes being worn. I had wobble at 50-60 and upon braking with my e34. Buy Powerflex bushes and your problem will go.

Control arm bushes cause horrible wobbling/shaking so another vote for that...

Control arm bushes cause horrible wobbling/shaking so another vote for that... yes they can, if worn - but E39 wheels with no spigots will almost always do this at some point. So def worth doing them first, as even if it doesnt fully resolve the issues, it will help as the wheels will actually be correctly located. (especially as its cheap, and simply involves wheel removal and immediately putting them back on)

Having a few issues on the car (even if they do not seem to directly relate to the issue) IME never helps with diagnosis.

Ultimately I got the bushes replaced, the wheels balanced, the tracking done and replaced the discs. It does seem to be a combination of things. But apparently on an e34 it is mostly the bushes. I guess the wheels without spigots exaggerated the problem on this car.
