and unless its a new polo with commonrail injection, the diseasel will be simpler than them to fix what exactly are the symptoms? also which engine/year? all you need with a diesel engine is fuel, none of this spark magikery, sometimes a bit of glow helps. so check the heater plugs are getting power when you turn the ignition on, if possible check the fuel pump cutoff solenoid, later cars will have anti-tamper stuff covering this so crack an injector pipe and look for a good flow of fuel on crank.
