So thinking of ways I can go abit lower on my mk2 fez and thinking of exiting the exhaust out of the passenger wing infront of the wheel fairly low down. There's a fair bit of space infront of the gearbox for a silencer and then have a pipe going straight out the chassis rail and through the wing? It's stripped out track car (or will be) and will be zetec'd
Anybody have any pics of this setup?

It'll be too loud and won't go through the noise regulations most trackdays now have. Doesn't matter what silencers you use, over 2 feet it won't make much difference.

Well I've got a straight through at the moment with just a cherry bomb back box that come with the sportex systems (the very back box/tip) so it's loud at the moment

Depends if you're planning on doing the trackdays in it. If it's just for road use noisy is fine, if you want to do trackdays check the noise regs at the tracks you might want to visit. No point getting there and finding out you can't go out on track.

About the only silencer that will keep the noise down in that location is and original equipment motorbike can. To flow enough you'll need one from a properly powerful motorbike - something like a Hayabusa. Aftermarket bike stuff will be too noisy (being straight-through boxes) and car stuff is intended to be used in a long system, so will again be noisy.
This is based on the experience of people with highly-tuned Imps, where the exhaust is a maximum of about 2 feet long.
Other things to look at might be 911 silencers, but I think they're pretty massive.

You could squeeze a twin loop silencer in there, double the length of the system -

As Matt says, you'll struggle to get on track with such a short exhaust. It'd be possible to get the noise down enough with the right silencing, but it'd likely end up fairly restrictive as you'd probably need a multi-chamber box to get the noise down. Might be able to do it with the exhaust zig-zaging across with 2 boxes, which might get you enough length, if there's space. Won't be good for cooling though.
What about routing the exhaust over the box and then out the back? (assuming the ground clearance issues where it goes under the engine)
Edit, loads of people posted while I was writing/eating! James, 911 silencer would be tricky to fit because of having 2 entry's, one either side. That twin loop thing looks quite good if there's space.

A turbo might make it a bit quieter? ;D

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

A turbo might make it a bit quieter? ;D I like this idea. Works too, my Scirocco's much quieter than you'd expect looking at the exhaust.

Been thinking about it, I have the old back box off my sportex system that is on the car which I cut the back box out of and replaced with a straight pipe, so I was thinking: Manifold 90 degree bend Old sportex back box infront of gearbox Hole through or above chassis rail Sportex cherry bomb style black box and tip out the wing I don't think it will be too loud, but It will be loud yes
