I've owned Jellybean since August 2010 and had wanted to build something 'rat' for quite a while. So when I spotted on the net an ad for this I was over to Oulton Broad like a shot. £150 later and I came home with a 8 owner, 141K 1.6 Driver, she clattered from the tappets but she appeared soild. Over the winter of 2010/11 I worked solid in building my vision, most of it was done as I went. Ideas were added or deleted as she progressed. I wanted the outside to be as clean as possible so anything that wasn't needed went though I still wanted her to look standard-ish from first glances. The front bumper had the number plate recess smoothed as well as the indicators, these were put behind the grille with smoked lenses. The L/H wiper grommet went as did the mirrors, side repeaters, badges, rear wiper, rubbing strips and arche trims. The lot was hand painted Airforce Blue with a cream roof. The bonnet was going to be rusty but once paint stripped I decided to gind it and varnish. Inside is were things went a little err, nuts. A beach theme was decided upon as she had spent most of her time in the Newquay area so out came the rear seats as the doors would only open from inside. The headlining is a 'sky' pattern, beach towels are now seat covers, postcard collages cover the door panels. A Mountney wheel is fitted but this was only after an adaptor ring was machined to make it fit the later boss. This year i've made a Bamboo roll cage to go with the strut brace. Mechanically a mate went through her, brakes were rebuilt, engine fully serviced including new tappets. Then she was lowered 4 inches with TA Technic coilovers, the ride is firm but comfy enough. This is a fun car, built to make people smile and it works. I love her and will be using her as well as my Cavalier this year. Here's a brief picture history. As bought Smoothing off Painted Inside In April '11 she went to Germany 600 miles , no trouble. Bug Jam Beside the seaside

Thanks for the positive comments guys, I knew RR folk would appreciate Jelly. In answer to the various questions. 1, The zimmer was going to go on the roof as part of the 'rack tat' idea. But once finished (though whenever are they) it was too clean for this, so it was used as a bench to saw up the bamboo. 2, Be good to meet up with local petrolheads, so once in April she's on the road we'll have to make arrangements. 3, The only VW speciific show i've done is Bug Jam in 2011. I'm also going this year and may do Whitenoise. 4, The pebbles are actually a vinyl tablecloth which was cut mat-shaped using the ones from my Vectra as patterns.. The ideas I used came to me as I went, some were ditched (sandpit in the back) but I was kinda planned. I have all the build pictures in order on my FB albums, hopefully you can see them via this link. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.153081584714377.22199.100000376093753&type=1&l=18817bdc0bwww.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.278644825491385.65638.100000376093753&type=1&l=d1b5ac2049

I finally made a start on finishing the rear of the interior, this area always looked unfinished as the seats have been removed so yesterday i set to with the scissors. The section of foam ready to be trimmed to shape Trimming starts Foam cut to shape ready to be covered Soon it will be going to a family friend who will cover it with this, sorry if it's a tad tame

I suggest some rough rope tied around the bamboo sticks to hide that metal connector thingy. Exactly my thoughts, bound with rope will finish it off I like it,
