sorry for this being vaguely o/t, but it is about my 2002. anyway, SORNed it online last year, dvla said they would send a confirmation letter and didn't. no reminder either. checking the dvla "vehicle enquiry" it comes up as unlicensed. I'm guessing, but does that mean the bmw is now out of SORN? and am I now liable for a fuggin' fine? not sure whether to re-SORN it, hoping the issue goes unnoticed, but the car won't be done until later in the year meaning it requires a SORN any thoughts? how much is the fine if thats what I'm facing couple of retro pics- golf is in a colchester scrapyard, I have the number if anyone needs thank you

Re sorn it, either by letter or online. I forgot for a month on my mini, it says a gap has occurred in the licensing but hey ho. I cant see them chasing you up if you re sorn it Mike *oh, and if they havent sent you a letter saying you're getting a fine re sorn it before they do*

Sorn it immediately. They are not likely to chase you for the gap in Sorn but they will if you leave it as untaxed.

Did you SORN it when you bought it, ie. with the number of the green new keepers slip??
That has tripped me up before, as you think you've done it, then when they transfer the ownership on reciept of the full V5 from the previous owner, they un-SORN it again.... British beaurocracy at its best.

Got a nice letter asking why I Sorned it twice Sent a nice letter back Prefered to do it twice rather than pay you £60 to remind me ;D

I've left 3 or 4 months before re-SORNing my car before. They never sent me a fine or anything. Same thing happened to me - I bought the car SORNed and when my name went on the logbook it got un-SORNed.

British beaurocracy at its best. didn't know about this, cheers. I first SORNed it with the v5c, as I only had an old decrepit v5 from about 8 years previous, so immediatley sent for a new v5c. came in like 10 days! anyway, its re-SORNed now. warning! a gap in the vehicle licensing has occured STFU computer cheers all
