...banger racing didnt exist? as much as I love bangers, seeing some of the classics and retros out there breaks my heart I know we need the parts, But I know many just rip out and cage and dump all the stuff they take out! whats your view on bangering classics and retros?

As much as I hate it, I have to say that classic and retro stuff would have little value if it was all common on our roads. A lot of stuff that gets raced does have a chance before it goes on the track. A prime example has to be the bluebird- blitish built is Sunderland, reliable, safe ( as we see on the banger track) . It soon became boring, everyone rushed out to buy the next faceless euro box and so a huge amount hit the track............ And guess what? Now they are becoming retro! A mate raced a van den plas 4 litre R last year, tried to sell it as it was very tidy, only wanted 4-500 for it, so ended racing it, he tried selling the interior, sold 3 times, got messed about on non collection, contacted the club, but it all ended in the skip. Huge waste, but stuff cannot be stored forever and ever, just in case.

...banger racing didnt exist? Or indeed, if cars didn't get scrapped through age, general use or accidents whilst they are being used for their intended purpose. Of the total production run of any car, most aren't here because they were 'just' old cars at some point, not because of banger racers. You can't save 'em all. That's why we see value in the ones that are left.
